A Grapefruit At Dawn

The golden days are upon us The dawns pink finger Now coiled as a fist The mighty summer warmth of our love Creeping over the sand dunes With our long shadows tailing behind us And ahead is a golden beach For miles, a road to nowhere But a nowhere we want to be A summer of relaxation Untouched by the crowds that will come Pure and virgin, speckled with broken shells And cool pools In which we may bathe our feet And recollect the shattered night Piecing it together, like the shells around us Our smiles are glue, to fasten this bond.

IIIWe’d arranged our tents in a kind of semi-circle such that we could all talk to one another without cramming onto one canvas. We’d also erected a small tarp to keep the rain out of the area in the middle of our tents; it was kinda like our porch. The sun had long gone down, and I could hear the pitter patter of rain coming down gently.
